Mariana is a filmmaker and visual artist whose work explores identity, belonging, and coloniality. Her works have been presented at major international festivals and art institutions. In 2023, she directed the immersive installation "Redemption", selected for the Immersive Non-Fiction Competition at IDFA and later exhibited in Brazil, the United States, and the Netherlands, including Garage Rotterdam. She also directed the documentary series "Enigma da Energia Escura" (2021, GNT/Globoplay) and the award-winning short "Baobab's Bark" (2017), screened at more than 50 festivals worldwide. She is currently developing the feature documentaries "Freedom Is No Fear", supported by the IDFA Bertha Fund, and "The Margin Color", part of the multimedia project "Linha de Cor", which investigates the historical construction of racism in Brazil through film, research, education, and exhibitions. Mariana holds degrees in Screenwriting (New York Film Academy) and Film Editing (Darcy Ribeiro Film School).
Mariana was awarded a fellowship to attend the Festival de Cali's VI Salón de Productores, in 2021.
