Fernanda Lomba is a Brazilian filmmaker and cultural strategist whose practice is centered on the development of author-driven cinematic narratives and the expansion of transnational networks for contemporary Black cinema.

Founder of the Instituto Nicho 54, she develops initiatives focused on professional training, international circulation and cooperation, with a particular emphasis on the economic empowerment of Black film agents.

Her artistic research is deeply informed by the notion of critical fabulation: a cinematic and discursive practice capable of unsettling archival regimes, displacing colonial imaginaries and generating new possibilities of memory, presence and futurity for Black subjectivities. Her work is especially concerned with the intersections between territory, ancestry and the political reinvention of the image.

Lomba is an alumna of the Toolbox Program/Berlinale and laureate by the Institut français for the prestigious Cité internationale des arts artistic residency program, both in 2024.

Fernanda Lomba was awarded a fellowship to participate in the Cité Internationale des Arts in 2024, and became part of the Paradiso Talent Network.
