Rafaela Camelo made her feature debut with “The Nature of Invisible Things”, which premiered in the Generation section of Berlinale 2025. The film went on to receive more than 20 national and international awards, including the Critics’ Prize at the São Paulo International Film Festival and three Kikito Awards at the Gramado Film Festival — two of the largest film festivals in Brazil — as well as the Outstanding First Feature Award at Frameline49 and a Special Jury Prize at the Havana Film Festival. Prior to that, her short films “The Beads” (co-directed with Emanuel Lavor) and “Desires of the flesh” screened at festivals such as Berlinale, Sundance and Biarritz. She is currently developing the feature projects “The Favorite Daughter”, slated for production in 2026, and “The Older Sister”, supported by Hubert Bals Fund. In 2023, she was named by Variety as one of the rising talents in Brazilian cinema.
