Pedro Freire graduated in Film Directing at EICTV-Cuba. He has directed and written eight short films, screened at festivals such as Venice, Locarno, Turin, Havana, Oberhausen, among others; as well as several TV series and three plays. His first feature film as a director, Malu, premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024 and won four awards at the Rio Film Festival, including Best Film, in addition to several international awards, such as Best Film in Kerala (India), Best First Feature in Cairo (Egypt), and Best Film in Punta del Este (Uruguay). Before directing Malu, he worked on 17 feature films in various roles, including screenwriter, assistant director, casting director, and acting coach. He has been a full professor of Directing at EICTV-Cuba since 2017 and teaches courses on directing actors at several institutions in Brazil.
In 2025, Pedro was selected for the Script Circle 2025 and became part of the Talent Network.
