Heitor’s passion for cinema led him to work as a subtitle operator at the Olhar de Cinema Int’l Festival for six consecutive years. During his formative years at Curitiba he went on to work as an assistant art director and set designer on TV series and short films, such as O Estacionamento (Best Short Film at Cartagena Film Festival 2016) and Duda (2019) both from collaborator William Biagioli. In 2018, wanting to pursue his aspirations as a screenwriter he began collaborating with Murilo Hauser. Together, they wrote Mariner of the Mountains, by Karim Aïnouz (Cannes 2021), I’m Still Here, by Walter Salles (Best Screenplay at the 81st Venice Film Festival and Academy Award for Best International Feature Film), in addition to collaborating on the script for The Blue Trail (Silver Bear at the 75th Berlinale) and acting as script consultants on Portrait of a Certain Orient (IFFR 2024), by Marcelo Gomes. For TV, Heitor wrote one of the episodes of the GNT documentary series, The History of a Plant, directed by Nina Kopko and Geovani Martins. During the pandemic, he adapted, edited and was assistant director in the recorded production of the play Les Marchands, by Joël Pommerat, directed by Hauser.

In 2025, Heitor received the ABRA Screenwriter of the Year Award, alongside Murilo Hauser, and became part of the Paradiso de Talentos Network.
