Filmmaker and screenwriter Diego Paulino was born in Leme, in the state of São Paulo, and it was there that he fell in love with storytelling. Paulino’s work explores issues surrounding the Black diaspora, its fears, and its dreams. His latest short film, the multi-award-winning NEGRUM3, has won over 40 awards and screened at more than 80 festivals across Brazil and around the world. He is currently developing his first feature-length fiction film, “Experiências Incômodas em Dias Nublados,” as well as the series “Fissura,” a finalist in the FRAPA 2025 pilot script competition. His next film, “A Perdição de Lázaro,” is set for a 2026 debut. He is a member of APAN—the Association of Black Audiovisual Professionals—and a partner and executive producer at Reptilia Produções.

Diego received the Paradiso Award for Best Project at Diáspora Lab.
