Cecilia da Fonte is a Brazilian director, screenwriter, and producer, born in Recife, Pernambuco. Since 2010, she has developed a career spanning fiction and documentary, exploring the relationships between gender, territory, memory, inequality, and resistance. She holds a degree in Social Communication and furthered her training in screenwriting, film directing, and creative documentary in Argentina and Venezuela. She has also worked professionally in Brazil and Angola as a director, screenwriter, assistant director, and producer.
As a director and screenwriter, she has made the fiction short films "Sexta Série" (2013) and "Abodô" (2024), and the feature-length documentaries "Parquelândia" (2018), "Território Suape" (2020), and "Estamos te Esperando em Casa" (2021), all of which have screened at national and international film festivals. She has also directed episodes of the series "Cinéticas" (Canal Curta!, 2025), "Água Capital", and "Desejos da Terra" (TV Pernambuco, 2026). She is currently preparing to shoot her first fiction feature, "O Ventre da Baleia".
Her work brings together cinema, memory, and collective organizing, understanding filmmaking as a space for contesting imaginaries and fostering social transformation.
In 2026, Cecilia was selected for the Residencia Iberoamericana de Guion and joined the Paradiso Talent Network.
