Pethrus Tibúrcio is a director and screenwriter based in Recife, Brazil. Their short film "Tell Her What Happened to Me" (2025) premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and has since screened at more than twenty festivals, receiving awards and honorable mentions. They are currently developing the feature script "Water Tank", in pre-production on the short film "What’s Mine Is Mine", and in post-production on their debut feature "Marina", which has received recognition from initiatives such as the Hubert Bals Fund and IFFR’s Darkroom. Pethrus has directed music videos alongside the Bichas Aliadas Collective and was a screenwriter for the television series "Mulher Original", created by Carlota Pereira. They have also been part of the directing teams of filmmakers such as Kleber Mendonça Filho, Karim Aïnouz, Marcelo Gomes, and Benjamín Naishtat. Pethrus is part of the Berlinale Talents network at the Berlin International Film Festival and a co-creator of Tela Trans, the first platform dedicated to cataloguing films directed or written by Brazilian trans filmmakers.

In 2026, Pethrus was awarded a fellowship to attend the IFFR Pro Darkroom.
