Matheus Farias holds a BA in Radio & TV and a postgraduate specialization in Film Studies from the Catholic University of Pernambuco. He works as an editor, screenwriter, and producer. He edited The Secret Agent (Official Competition, Cannes Film Festival 2025 – Best Director and Best Actor awards) and Pictures of Ghosts (Official Selection, Cannes Film Festival 2023), both directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho; Eros (Rachel Daisy Ellis – CPH:DOX 2024) and Property (Daniel Bandeira – Berlinale Panorama 2023), which won the Best Editing award at the Rio Film Festival in 2023. He is co-writer and co-director of the short films Inhabitability, selected for the International Competition at the Sundance Film Festival 2021, and Burning from Within, screened at the Rio Film Festival. The River’s Edge, his first feature film, is currently in post-production. He is a Berlinale Talents Alumni 2024.
Along with Murilo Hauser, Cassiano was awarded a fellowship to attend Torino Film Lab NEXT with the "Cold Cut" screenplay in 2020.
