Director and screenwriter, Fabio Meira began his career in cinema as Ruy Guerra’s assistant on “O Veneno da Madrugada” (2004). “Two Irenes”, his first feature as a director, premiered at the Berlinale, won awards in Guadalajara and Seminci, and received four Kikitos in Gramado, including Best Film by the Critics and Best Screenplay. In 2023, he premiered “Aunt Virgínia” at the Gramado Film Festival, once again receiving the Kikitos for Screenplay and the Critics’ Award, in addition to earning seven Grande Otelo nominations and winning the acting categories for Vera Holtz and Arlete Salles. Mambembe (2024), an official selection of both the Rio Film Festival and the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, won Best Film at Panorama Internacional Coisa de Cinema, FICA, the Guarnicê Film Festival, the Vitória Film Festival, and the Brazilian Film Festival in Milan, as well as Best Director at the Bravo Film Festival in Los Angeles. Among his short films, highlights include “Hoje Tem Alegria” (2010), awarded at É Tudo Verdade; “Pátria”(2013), featured on ESPN Brasil; and the 35 mm fiction short “Atlântico” (2009), which won Best Short Film in Toulouse.

In 2025, Fabio received a fellowship to participate in SERIESMAKERS 2026 and became part of the Paradiso Network.
